Midwestern cities are seeing an influx of brewpubs, makerspaces, luxury condos, restaurants, and more every month. Native chefs who honed their craft in major cities have returned home to share their exquisite expertise. No longer timid about their roots, locals proudly sport t-shirts and apparel that proclaim they are both local and very much home.

Indianapolis is no exception to this trend. The Circle City is alive with booming new bars and restaurants, sprawling and innovative museums, and plenty of other opportunities for a great weekend getaway.

‘Chez’ Chesak is an award-winning travel writer, tourism consultant and 25-year veteran of the outdoor and travel industries.
